Lafayette Aviators welcome fans to 4th Street Fest

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Fans were able to meet and get autographs from the Lafayette Aviators. That’s thanks to the Aviators Street Fest.

Happening from 2 to 6 on Saturday afternoon, the Street Fest was held beside Loeb Stadium before tonight’s evening game.

This is the fourth annual Street Fest. Local vendors and activities were set up for the crowd. Players were there to greet fans and sign Aviator gear and baseball cards.

Players said this gives them a chance to get to know their fan base and the Lafayette community. They also thanked fans for their constant support at games.

“All our fans, we love them, so just trying to get to know them and have them get to know us,” Eli Hickman, Lafayette Aviator, said. “It’s a good time and it’s a lot different from a lot of other places because a lot of other places, like where I played in the past, it’s kind of just you and your team. The community is kind of there a little bit, but nothing like here in Lafayette so it’s something special in terms of collegiate summer ball.”

“We’re thankful for the fans that show up everyday. We have some long games and there’s still fans there and sticking with us until the end of basically every single game. It’s really awesome and I want to say thank you to everybody that comes out and supports us,” said Evan Cooke, Lafayette Aviator.

Following the Street Fest, the Aviators face off against the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp.
