WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) â This weekend the Rossville softball team will be heading to state for the first time in program history.
The Hornets are on a 12-game win streak and are hoping to make it 13 after Saturday. However, they’ll have their work cut out for them as they take on the number one team in Class 1A.
Rossville will face Tecumseh on Saturday afternoon.Â
The Braves have reached the finals four out of the last five years. The only year this team didnât reach state was during the COVID season when no games were played.
Out of the four showings Tecumseh has had, the Braves have won two back-to-back championships. Now, theyâre looking for a three-peat.Â
Heading into tomorrow Rossville knows they’ll have to put up a great fight to come out with a win. However, the team says no matter what the result of the game is, theyâre just happy to play together one last time.
Senior Megan McDonald said, âJust stepping on that field at Purdue and seeing all our fans there and getting to play on that field, I mean it’s truly beautiful. It’s an experience that I couldn’t have asked for more for a senior year and the last game I’m ever going to be playing.â
And teammate Cortney Huffman agrees. She said, âItâs just a great experience. Like win or lose we get to play in state and that’s something not a lot of people can say as they graduate high school. And I think it’s definitely my favorite experiences.â
The first pitch is set for 4:30 P.M. at Bittinger Stadium.
