INDIANAPOLIS – A mother and daughter were asleep in their west side residence when the daughter heard gunshots—and the mother realized she’d been hit.
Officers were dispatched around 12:50 a.m. to the 6600 block of Sunbury Drive for a reported shooting.
According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, the mother and daughter were sleeping when gunfire woke the daughter up. She asked her mother if she’d heard the gunshots; her mother said she didn’t.
However, the mother soon realized she’d been hit in the buttocks; a bullet had gone through the wall and grazed her, according to police.
She drove herself to a hospital in Danville, where police located her.
The shooting remains under investigation.
