WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)Â â For the first time since 1980, the Purdue men’s basketball team is heading to the Final Four.
Hundreds of fans lined the Purdue airport to greet the players as they returned to West Lafayette after a 72-66 win over Tennessee in the Elite Eight.
The story this tournament has been how well Boilermaker fans have traveled, turning neutral sites in Detroit and Indianapolis into Mackey North and South.
Last night was no different. Fans cheered as the Boilermaker Special made a grand entrance with the team on board Sunday night.
This will be Purdue’s third Final Four Appearance. The Boilermakers will face NC State on Saturday.
