WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) â High school baseball was back in action. Tonightâs featured game was a rivalry matchup for the ages as McCutcheon faced off against Harrison.
Harrison was looking to split the series. Meanwhile, the Mavs wanted to remain undefeated.
Things were even until the bottom of the third when the Raiders would put one run on the board. Mavericks didnât have a response until the top of the fifth, and suddenly we were knotted up again.
Things stayed that way until the seventh and final inning.
McCutcheonâs Jonathan Riley would get things going and bounce one to the infield. The third basemenâs throw to home would be dropped by the catcher ensuring a Mav score. To try and salvage whatâs left of the play, Harrisonâs catcher throws to third trying to tag a runner out, but wouldn’t be successful.
The Raiders are now down by one hoping to turn things around with the next batter up. But Mavericks Sage Adams had a different idea.
He dribbles one to the shortstop, who connects with the second basemen for the out but the throw to first for the double play wouldn’t get there. So, the Mavs put another run on the board and Adams stays safe at first.
Harrison couldnât respond in the bottom of the seventh, and the Mavs won 3-1. McCutcheon wins the series against the Raiders.
