Charlo Ann Jones, 81, of Ft. Myers, FL, formerly of North Vernon, passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Hope Hospice in Bonita Springs, FL.

Born July 22, 1942, in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Virginia (Neal) Spannuth. She married Dennis Jones on June 20,1965, at the First Presbyterian Church in Anderson; he survives.

Charlo was a1960 graduate of Noblesville High School in Noblesville and received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 1964, and her master’s degree in 1967. She was a home economics teacher for Jennings County High School for 32 years before retiring in 1998. Charlo was a member of the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon and attended Cypress Lakes Methodist Church in Fort Myers, FL. She was a member and a past president of Ladies Golf Association in Fort Myers, FL, and a member of Jennings County Retired Teachers Association, Indiana State Teachers Association, Red Hat Society, Sigma Kappa at IU, and Psi Iota Xi. Charlo enjoyed golfing, quilting, hand embroidery, swimming, taking walks, and reading.

Surviving with her husband, Dennis, are her sons, Greg (Dana) Jones of Taylorsville and Jeff (Deanna) Jones of North Vernon; brother, Bill (Carol) Spannuth of Loganville, GA; and grandchildren, Danielle Jones of West Lafayette and Jonathan Jones of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Neal Spannuth.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Bill Wilbert officiating. The visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. A burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery in Vernon.

Memorials in honor of Charlo may be made through the funeral home to First United Methodist Church in North Vernon.
