A Porter police officer was injured whereas apprehending a housebreaking suspect, in line with the Porter Police Division.
Early Friday, Porter Police responded to help the Burns Harbor Police Division with a reported housebreaking in progress.
Upon arriving, a Porter officer encountered the suspect who was fleeing the scene. Through the apprehension of the suspect — who was bodily resisting arrest — a Porter officer sustained a critical however non-life threatening damage that required transport by EMS.
Police say the title of the suspect is being withheld till formal fees have been filed.
The suspect was handled and launched from the hospital earlier than being transported to the Porter County Jail.
Police say the injured Porter officer was later launched from the hospital and is recovering at residence.
